Prepare Ye The Way!

For the Love of the Spirit

New Page(s)

In an attempt to improve the flow of blog traffic and provide a convenience for readers I have added a new page for a series of articles created on stories from the Bible.

As of now there is only one series that is posted and still in progress of creation.  It can be found on the page SAMUEL and has three links (so far) to articles posted here on the Prophet Samuel who anointed the first two kings of IsraelSaul and David.  The link for this page can be found here and in the right sidebar under the heading Bible Stories.  Similarly, links for the page Bible Stories can be found here, in the navigation bar at the top of this page, and in the right sidebar.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Another short little administrative note here for your information or annoyance depending on your perspective.  🙂

I have been experimenting a little with blog features here at Word Press.  The “reblog” feature is interesting and I reblogged a post I like at another blogger’s site.  Then I deleted it.  I wanted to see how it would appear here and etc.  I imagine that the act of reblogging the post was communicated to the original blogger and if they came over to see what I did to it then it would not be present (having deleted it) and it might be confusing.

I definitely will be taking advantage of this option in the future as well as “Press This.”  There are features here at W.P.  that have been added since I was last here a couple of years ago, so I am still feeling my way around a little.

Thanks for your patience.

Not an Endorsement

This is an administrative note.

In the blog I very often include images I get off the Internet.  I always provide a link back embedded in the image to the site from which I copied it.

IN NO WAY, should a “link back” be inferred as that this blog or its authors and/or administrators approve of or endorse the site from the image originated.

I do indeed find many sites that I gladly endorse.  If that happens I give them a separate link in the blogroll in the right sidebar.  I try to include as many as possible that I gladly endorse but it is not always the case.

It is a matter of courtesy when I do a link back — Not a statement of approval.  If I approve, I’ll say so.  Don’t assume that if I say nothing that I do not approve.  In most if not all cases in life, not assuming intent is the best bet.  Sometimes it can’t be avoided.  But in this case it follows . . .

Prepare Ye The Way!

This is partly in the way of announcements and partly in the way of a little sharing of my calling.  Thanks for peeking in!

I have been doing a little tweaking on this blog’s appearance.  I changed the background color a couple of times to get it tuned just the way I like it.  I hope it suits you too.  🙂

I was also looking for a tag line at the top of the page.  previously it just said “For the Love of the Spirit” twice.  That just wouldn’t do.  So I contemplated it for a while with what exactly I am trying to accomplish here in mind.  In a small way I was thinking of what I could do to improve blog traffic.

Blog traffic is nice in a couple of ways.  It is an ego boost.  It lets me know that what I am putting out here is actually being viewed at least long enough for someone to say “YUCK!”  At most it means that people are saying “BOY!  This is someone who I have to read more!”  The latter definitely doesn’t seem to be the case though as I have been going at this for a season now and a path has yet to be beaten to my door.

I thought to make it more visually and thematically appealing, so that  once someone walked in the door they might stick around long enough to get past the appetizers.

The biggest reason though, that bog traffic is important to me, is that it lets me know that the calling I have received to carry the Good News (Gospel) of God’s Love through the salvation we receive from his sacrifice of Jesus is being served.

I want to do more for God in expanding my calling to reach more of his children.  That is what I am doing in my life outside this blog in my ministry.

It is slow going as I have no financial resources of my own to further the ministry, but slowly and surely I am making steps to serve God’s Children in any spiritual way that is at my disposal.  I continually chip away at the obstacles that are in my path and I have faith that one day I will break through if it is in the will of my Father.

As a side note, if you, Dear Reader, are interested and moved by the Spirit, you may help in this ministry by sending donations to the address given on the Contact page here.  If you have questions or concerns before you take such a step, you may also email me from the email link provided on the Contact page or from this link here.

Bottom Line:

Preparing a Way for the Lord

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:    “A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.
5 Every valley shall be filled in,
every mountain and hill made low.
The crooked roads shall become straight,
the rough ways smooth.
6 And all people will see God’s salvation. (Luke 3:4-6, Isaiah:40:3-5)

I am following a calling from God to prepare a way for the end of days when we have the opportunity to be in reunion with our Creator through the sacrifice of the First Born from the dead, Jesus the Christ.

If this is a “wilderness” then I strive to be a voice (among many) who cries from it.

In Christ’s Love, Michael

Announcements that are non-blog related are something that I normally would be including on the website “Love of the Spirit,” but, sadly, the website is hung in limbo.  Until such time as that dream and prayer becomes a reality, I will use this blog to forward information.  Thank you for your patience.

As always I urge my readers to subscribe to the blog by whatever means they find available.  One such method can be found in the link provided in the upper right corner of this page.  ALSO, please feel free to comment in the text box provided for every article.  Comments, thoughts, feedback, etc. are ALWAYS welcome!

12 Step Bible Study

Starting this Tuesday and continuing every Tuesday for the rest of 2011 and into 2012, members of New Beginnings (myself included) will be leading and sponsoring a “12 Step Bible Study” for homeless men.  New Beginnings will be traveling to rotating PACEM sites to make contact with the men who wish to participate in the program.  During the cold winter months, a local organization called PACEM provides housing and a hot meal for homeless men and women.  See the next section for more on PACEM.

The 12 Step Bible Study is similar to any other 12 step recovery program.  Based on the 12 Steps of Alcohol Anonymous, each week one step will be discussed.  Strong emphasis is placed on scripture.

The following is a cut and paste from the PACEM website “About” page.  Besides the link provided here you may find a link for them in the “Blog Roll” in the right sidebar.

People and Congregations Engaged in Ministry (PACEM) is an interfaith collaboration of congregations and community partners in Charlottesville. Our passion is to help the homeless find shelter at night, especially during the cold winter months.

PACEM opened its doors November 15, 2004, and immediately began serving some of our neediest neighbors. Our program is modeled on the long running and highly successful CARITAS program in Richmond, Virginia, and NEST program in Norfolk, Virginia.

PACEM operates as a shelter of last resort;  through PACEM, local congregations take turns hosting men and women who have nowhere else to sleep at night.  Meals are included, and some sites provide access to showers and laundry.

New Links

I have added new links in the right sidebar.  I will continue to search and read websites that provide opportunities for inspiration and growth in faith in our Father and his Son, through the blessings of his Holy Spirit.
